You and I have talked about this before but I think it’s important that we talk about it again.
The word “Friend”
A friend is a feeling. It’s a person. It’s a relationship that helps us find balance in this crazy thing we call life.
A friend is a source of comfort. It’s a meaningful name that either puts a smile on your face or a feeling in your heart.
That’s what a friend is.
A friend is an all night conversation that goes from one topic to the next. Before you know it, the sun is about to come up and you say out loud, “My God, I gotta get some sleep!” but the the conversation keeps going.
A friend is a memory. A friend is the stories from our youth. It’s a laugh about the places in our old neighborhood. I tell you there are no friends like old friends. They are the ones that know the old details. They are the ones that remember the best of times and the worst of times. Old friends getting together; I swear, there is nothing like it.
The only thing that comes close to the connection between old friends are the new friends that come along in life; only, you feel like you’ve known them forever.
A friend is a needed phone call at an unexpected time. It’s a kindred spirit, somehow connected and linked to you for the rest of your life.
No matter where you go, where you live, or how long it’s been, —a friend is always a friend. Even if years pass between us, once we connect, twenty years can pass and it’s almost like not a day went since the last time we spoke.
So long as we are friends, I can say without any question that you will never walk alone. No matter what, where why, or when, just know I will always be there if you need me. Always~
Call me old fashioned.
Say I’m out of touch with reality
Say whatever you want.
I believe that if we say that we’re friends, and by this I mean true friends and not friends of convenience or friends because we are linked through some kind of social media thing —if I say we are friends then I say we’ll always be friends.
The world is a crazy place. We know this. It’s tough to go it alone. That’s why I need a friend like you to sort out the madness in my life, to laugh with, and to help balance this crazy world we live in.
I know sometimes life is tough. I know there are times when things go wrong and (I swear) the phone weighs more than a thousand pounds.
I know there are times when circumstances are tough.
But I have news for you.
Things are rough all over. Believe me on this one.
However, one of the things I find redeeming about this fact is I have friends like you to see me through..
I have special friends: to keep me going when I think I can’t and to keep me smiling when my world is falling apart.
This is what friends do . . .
You do this for me
I just want to do the same thing for you.
