No More Excuses

Charles Bukowski once wrote, “Your life is your life. Don’t let it be clubbed into dank submission.”
If you want to do something then do it. If you want to go somewhere then go. If you want to be someone then be it. Don’t let a small thing like intimidation set you back.
Don’t allow the worries or irrational fears to keep you from your dreams or your happiness. Above all things, don’t allow your dreams to be exchanged for a life you never wanted. Be mindful. Be aware of excuses and be diligent on your course towards happiness.

Understand that this is your job. This is you on an everyday basis. Your job from this point onward is to reach for your goals as if it were the same as reaching for the air you need to breathe.
Understand that life will not play fairly. There will be downfalls and setbacks. There will be problems and obstacles. There will be days when the energy level seems nonexistent. Pain might take place of hope because unfortunately, life is not free from discouragement. There are times when darkness finds us all. However, deep down, there is a source of light in everyone.
If there weren’t a source then we wouldn’t care. We wouldn’t even know the difference between pass or fail and right or wrong. Deep within us is the desire to have more and be more. If this were not true, then we would never have the wherewithal to understand that we have let ourselves down.

Socrates once said, “Your mind is the predicament. It wants to be free of change. Free of pain, free of the obligations of life and death. But change is law and no amount of pretending will alter that reality.”

Bukowski was right. Your life is your life.
My life is mine. There is no sense in combining the problems of someone else or taking on the sins from an outside source.
There is no reason to hinge our hopes or dreams upon someone or something else. First and foremost, we must be our best source of light. Otherwise our light becomes dependent upon the beacons of someone else. Hence, we become dependent on them and never learn the victory that comes when we can rely on ourselves.

Whether this is figurative or literal, to reach our destination is only a pathway from where we are to where we want to be. No one says the travel time will be short or easy. No one ever promised us a shortcut.
Besides, even if there were a shortcut, would this lead to the same destination of happiness? Or would it just be easier? Think about this.
Would we have overcome as much? Would we be strong enough to endure if we never had the strength to get where we are to begin with?

Understand that there will always be reasons. There will always be excuses. There will always be traps and dead-ends, wrong turns, and there will always be times when we have to backtrack or head back to the drawing board to start from scratch.
There will always be some kind of discouragement. In fact, there is a name for this. The name is called Life. Your pay might not be what you want. Your supervisor might not be friendly. There will always be extenuating circumstances but this is our life.
If we want more and if we want to be more or do more, then put simply, we have to act on this. And what better time is there than to act now? Why not start now?
Otherwise, we drown in the submission of our regrets. We drown in the emotional quicksand. We lose to this. We give in. We surrender and watch the life we want as it fades in the distance.

No one can ever stop us from improving. No one can ever stop us from reaching for our dreams or achieving our goals. This does not mean people will make this easy. This doesn’t mean people will support our cause or cheer when we succeed. This doesn’t mean that the odds won’t be stacked against us either. All this means is no one has the right to make us quit.

Be aware that there will always be someone looking to act like crabs in a bucket. There will always be someone looking to pull you back or keep you down. And they will do it like this is their job. There will be people looking to criticize you because this is the only trick they know.

If this life is our life then we have to own it. If our life is our life then we have to learn the secrets to endure and overcome. No one will do this for us.  Then again, no one can.
Everything we do begins and ends with us. We are the common denominator. We are the square root to our own equation. We are the engine, the primary motion.

If you want to be something, then be it. If you want to write or create, then do it. Find your source of inspiration. Find your path. Do not wait for anything else.
Do not wait for time or for circumstances to play a fair game because it’s like Bukowski wrote. You have to “Go all the way!”

You have to determine your goals and keep them realistic. You have to determine your next set of achievements and make them attainable and have this become sustainable so that you can keep this as your reality.
If our life is our life then we must remember that we have the right to choose our destiny. No one has the right to intercept or take this away from us.

If you want to do something then do it. Do not allow anyone or anything to hold you back. To hell with the critics. To hell with people that don’t get your style or appreciate your personality. There will always be someone out there to disagree. To hell with them too.

Find your goals. Set your course and then set off.
No one else will do this for you.
The job to live your life is yours.
Just be mindful you don’t give this away to someone else.
Otherwise, you’ll never understand the victory that comes when you learn that you can rely upon yourself.
Always~

LOVE THIS: If you want to do something then do it. Do not allow anyone or anything to hold you back. To hell with the critics. To hell with people that don’t get your style or appreciate your personality. There will always be someone out there to disagree. To hell with them too!
