I am stuck on a word or maybe fixated is a better description. The word itself is simple and part of our everyday life whether we think about it or not
Gravity . . .
I can say that my experience with gravity or the absence thereof shows me the difference between heavy and lighthearted things.
I can see how my association with either dark and heavy or light and lighthearted things can determine the mood for the rest of my day.
I am forever bound to this place we call Earth. Therefore, so long as I am of the flesh, my body carries the weight of my world as well as the weight of my flesh.
This is the reality that keeps me grounded.
I am no more than anyone else. I am not so gifted or so talented, wealthy, and nor am I deserving of better or worse than anyone else who is willing and able of sound mind and body.
It is amazing to me the way we accuse and point and judge and condemn.
We execute the world, when in fact, we are all so vain or so high and mighty.
Meanwhile, we all have darker secrets and we have all survived a life that was unexpected, if not unfortunate to say the least.
But hey….
This is fine.
the high and mighty can have their way.
Of course this is fine because no justifying or excusing ourselves can absolve us from our sins the truth is this; reality is always going to come and bring us down to the ground
Beware, the high and mighty.
Beware of the overly righteous because I happen to agree – yes, the last shall be first and the first shall be last.
Gravity comes to bring us back to reality and hence, this is what grounds us to the truth. And so, whether there is truth that The Son of Man came in like a lamb and out like a lion, or if the soldiers in Heaven will come to serve righteousness and punish the enemies of God, I don’t know what will come when we face the so-called Rapture.
I cannot say that my knowledge of scriptures and the truth can equal the sum of my faith. But I will say that yes, I do believe that the time when people exalt themselves will come to an end.
The first shall be last and the last shall be first.
I stand before you here and now and I face the sunrise no differently from anyone else who has to brave another day, here on Project Earth
I stand before and openly confess and acknowledge that I am me, a man, and I am a sinner just the same. I am one of guilt and of crimes that went unpunished for a while.
But I . . .
I found out that in fact, pride does come before the fall.
However, at least I stand here to face the judgements and at least I come here without excuses, without rationalizing anything or without the waste of breath to justify my actions.
And so –
I kneel. I bow my head.
I acknowledge my sins and as it was explained to me, I am here to answer for “the exact nature of my wrongs.”
I see children
I see the ones we guide and I note their innocence.
I note their purity and their freedom from a molested life. I love this.
I love their untouched patterns, all new, all free to believe in the magic of a special blanket or a teddy bear.
I love this too.
I want this kind of freedom too; to be free from abuse, and free from the remnants of bullies, and free from the aggressors and the violence.
I know there is hope.
I know there is goodness.
I know there is light despite the darker things I see throughout the day.
The sunrise was especially beautiful this morning.
In fact, even the accusers and the exalted and even the slaughterhouse and the executioners were free enough to let their judgements rest.
This morning was beautiful enough that the gravity of dawn and the beauty of the first light was able to bring at least a semblance of peace.
The sunrise was enough to make a man like me look elsewhere and drop a tear.
The sky was kind enough to advise me differently this morning. And so behold, I know there is beauty in this world. And so, dear God, I know there is love out there for me.
I swear it
Like my old friends used to say to me
“Stay old, Ponyboy.”
Stay gold ~
